What your resume says about you

• Claims more than it shows

“Led the migration of the ledger to Kubernetes”

Backend Engineer · Ledgerly · 2022 to present

The resume states it; nothing around it says what you owned or what changed. A reader cannot tell if you led the team or ran one task.

Fix: Name the scope and the result in the same line.

• Says the same thing twice

“Built dashboards for the sales team in Looker”

  Data Analyst · Brightcart · 2020 to 2022

The same work appears again two lines down, in other words. The second line takes room a different result could use.

Fix: Keep the stronger of the two and give the other line a new result.

• No result stated

  “Responsible for onboarding new customers”

  Customer Success Manager · Fieldnote · 2019 to 2021

It says what the job was, not what came of it.

Fix: Add what changed: how many customers, how fast, what kept them.
